My friend took some family pictures for us last week. She was sweet enough to do it twice! The first time we tried, Laura was such a stinker and refused to cooperate. Taking pictures of kids is the most frustrating thing in the world! And I think that is why she was such a stinker, because I was getting frustrated and kept saying things like, "sit down and smile or you won't get your treat at the end." As you can imagine, this was not very effective. These were the only pictures that turned out from our first trip:

So the second time around, I let Laura help choose her outfit and look at pictures online and tell me what she wanted to do for our pictures. She was much happier and easier to work with.

She is getting so big! Even though we had moved the week before, Laura insisted on a birthday party. So, we decided last minute to throw a dinosaur party for her.

I made the cake with fondant. The first and probably last time I will do that! When it was time to sing happy birthday we put dry ice in the volcano so it could smoke like an erupting volcano.

Annie sat on the ground the whole 2 hour party next to her friend Tucker and didn't make a peep, in spite of the fact that it was naptime and lunch time. I almost forgot I had a baby! She finally got tired at the end. Is there anything cuter than a crying baby wearing a birthday hat?

She also got a kiss from Tucker!

We also celebrated Angelica's birthday last week. It has been 2 years since they placed her tiny body in my arms. It seems like yesterday and forever ago. We decided as a family to do something each year to remember her. This year, I called Operation Smile and they sent me a hospital gown pattern to sew gowns for the children in third world countries who will be receiving surgeries to correct their cleft palate. When I see commercials for Operation Smile on TV, I can't help but miss my own sweet baby when I see all the pictures of those sweet little kids with lips and noses that look just like Angelica's did. I was so happy to be able to do something to help them! We decided to have a "birthday party" and invite our friends over to help us sew. We had so much fun and were able to sew up a lot of gowns with the extra help.
We went over to our new neighbor's home for dinner on Sunday and found out randomly that she carries the same chromosomal abnormality that I do. We were both so surprised at finding this out! We told her about our experience with Angelica. Every time I talk about her, I feel so lucky that we are blessed to have her as part of our family. I still don't know how to respond when people tell me they are sorry. I am not sorry at all that we got to have such a special baby. Her short life continues to bless us and teach us. And her memory, and the hope that I have of being with her again in Heaven, is what motivates me to be a better mother and better person. Happy birthday, Angelica!

Unfortunately, Laura woke up sick. She didn't even touch my easter breakfast biscuits that were shaped like a bunny and instead of dressing her up in her cute Easter dress, Laura spent the morning in her pajamas like this:
You know Laura is sick when she falls asleep during the daytime.
We had to skip out on a yummy ham and potato Easter dinner with friends. Instead we ate deviled eggs and veggies with hummus. And our bunny cake.

I pretty much ate this whole bunny cake myself. I used the carrot cake recipe from Our Best Bites and holy cow, it was delicious. Seriously, so good.
I did get some pics of them in the Easter dress this past week. Annie refused to smile for any of my pics, which is unlike her! So all I've got are these serious faces.

Laura was much more predictable in her pictures. This pretty much captures her personality perfectly.

Annie is growing up way too fast. She just got her first tooth this week and for the first time today, she got up on her hands and knees like she was going to crawl. She is such a happy, content baby! I just have to look at her and she starts smiling and laughing. I love her chubby little cheeks.

For Peter's Christmas present I had my friend take some pics of the girls to frame for Peter's office. She did a great job. Annie is so much easier these days when it comes to taking pictures. Laura was all over the place and we had to bribe her to get her to hold still. Annie on the other hand was, as usual, smiley and easy going about the whole ordeal.

We blessed Deanna on Sunday. Grandpa Munk flew to Atlanta to be here for the blessing. Among other things, Peter blessed her to follow her Grandma, Deanne Fielding, example of faithfulness and dilligence. Annie cried through the whole blessing. She was so loud that when Peter got done blessing her, the congregation started laughing.

There is nothing better than little kids in costumes. And since I love sewing clothes for my girls, there is nothing better than designing some fun, crazy costume. This year, Laura was too old to pick her costume for her and she insisted on choosing for herself. For a while, I couldn't convice her to be anything that was worth sewing. Finally I convinced her to be something that would make both of us happy: Cruella DeVille. I loved that I would get to dress her up in something girly and she loved that she was "the bad guy who steals all the puppies and puts them in cages."

It makes me sad because I don't want Annie to grow up so fast. I love this sleepy newborn stage where I can snuggle up to her and we can take a nap on the couch while Laura watches cartoons for an hour. She sleeps pretty well at night too. We have a hard time getting her to sleep some nights, but once she is asleep she will sleep for 4-5 hours before waking up and needing to be fed. Laura loves having a baby sister and is constantly showering her with kisses and hugs.

Last weekend we also had a fun visit with Peter's sister Cyndie and her family. It was so fun to have some family come visit. Laura had a great time with her older cousins and loves her new train set they brought her. Hooray for having family closer by!

After waiting and waiting for the last 9 months, I finally convinced our doctor to let us be induced at 40 weeks and 3 days. I have never gone into labor on my own and am doubtful that my body can actually do that. I don't mind being induced, in fact I like that I can pack my bags, clean my house and vacuum my floor and leave for the hospital with out feeling any pain. Here I am with my "humongous" belly right before we left.(Laura loved to tell me I was humongous.)

They started me with cervadil at about 10 pm. At 9am the next morning I was dialated to a 2 and they broke my water. The contractions started to get closer and stronger and I got an epidural. By 3 pm, we were ready to push the baby out and after 3 very quick pushes, she was here! It always surprises us how fast it goes at the end.
She was 6 lbs 14 oz, 18 1/2 inches long. I think she is beautiful and when she opens her eyes she looks just like her daddy.

She has been asking constantly since then "Is it August yet?" Now that it is August, she is a little confused and impatient. I am feeling the same way! The due date is not until this Thursday, but it seems that everyone keeps telling me that the baby will probably come early and for some reason I believed them. I don't know why I would believe the random lady at the grocery store or gym who tells me that it looks like I am ready, but I guess you believe what you want to hear. Anyways, they are all wrong. This baby is apparently waiting for her due date. I used to go to bed every night with a clean house and all my laundry done, just in case the baby came. Now I am saving my laundry up for a normal size load instead of mini daily loads since I obviously am not having this baby anytime soon. With my past 2 pregnancies I was induced. I am not even sure my body knows how to go into labor by myself. I am hoping to convince my doctor at my appt tomorrow to schedule an induction for Thursday, my due date.
I have been spending the time getting everything ready for the baby. I finished her crib bedding.

I made this bird mobile to hang above her crib. Peter isn't so sure he wants sticks hanging above our little baby's head, but I think it turned out really cute.

I am not a quilter, but I had so much fun making this little baby quilt. Laura loves it and sleeps with it every night. She is going to be mad when the baby comes and she has to share it. (Sorry about the big belly in the picture. It was hard to hold the camera far enough out that it didn't catch any belly.)

I found this awesome wood doll house at a yard sale for FREE! It was covered in marker and crayon marks and needed some love. I painted it up and modge podged some cool paper to the inside walls and I love it. Now I need to get some cute furniture and dolls to put in it. I think I did it more for me than Laura since Laura could care less about dolls. But, I'm sure my next little girl is going to be my girly girl.

Laura got a new bed spread and some pillows as well. That bed spread just about killed my fingers because I had to sew each of those silly knots by hand. The bed also got a coat of some bright red paint and I painted and reupholstered my thrifted rocking chair to match.

I have also been sewing some clothes for the baby and I couldn't resist sewing a few matching outfits for my two girls.

On another topic, we recently returned from a visit to WA where I got to see all my siblings and Laura got to spend time with all her Fielding cousins. In spite of the fact that I was 34-36 weeks pregnant, we had so much fun. I love spending time with my family. We also got to go visit Angelica's grave. It has been over a year since we said goodbye to her and it was a very sweet and emotional experience to be back in that cemetary that now holds so many memories. Laura was excited to put a flower on her little sister's grave.

We buried her in the same plot as my sister who passed away in a car accident when I was 4. It makes me very happy to have them together here as I hope they are in heaven right now.

And for those of you who are wanting to see me at my largest, here I am at 31 weeks pregnant. I am officially at the huge stage. I can't wear any of my favorite maternity cloths because I've grown out of them and am down to a few outfits left that I fit in. <ahref="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QnSUuwIur44/T95zKQpzwzI/AAAAAAAABWU/LELQksdaP0w/s1600/father%2527s%2Bday%2B034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em">

Laura's birthday was on May 1st and we celebrated with a safari themed party.
I made little safari vests, binoculars and clipboards for each of the kids.
We played some fun games, including looking for hidden animals check off their clipboad list. Laura's favorite TV show right now is Go Diego Go and so she loved this part.
I also served animal themed food:
Monkey, Zebra and Tiger Cupcakes

Laura had a blast and I think it was worth all the work trying to plan a party 2 weeks before we moved.

This is Laura with her best friend Giana whose mother, my friend Heidi, took all the birthday pics for me with her awesome camera and photography skills! We are happy that they also moved to Atlanta!

We celebrated Angelica's birthday on May 4th. We started the day by going to breakfast. The morning that Angelica passed away we decided to wanted to spend the day celebrating her life and not feeling sad, so we went to a popular breakfast place in Nashville called the Pancake Pantry. We decided it would be fun tradition to continue each year on her birthday to remind us to celebrate her short life and the time we got to spend with her instead of feeling sad that we lost her so soon.
Afterwards we went to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital to drop off 10 preemie sleep gowns that I made using the same pattern I used to sew Angelica's few outfits that I made for her not knowing if she would be alive long enough to wear them. They fit her so perfectly and I was happy to have something small and cute to put her in. It is hard to find clothing small enough for preemie babies and the hospital said they would appreciate having the preeemie gowns on hand to give to other preemie babies. I spent a lot of time sewing those gowns and I enjoyed every minute of it thinking about the special babies that might wear them.
Now we are getting anxious for our next Munk birthday- our baby due in August. It feels like I have been pregnant forever. Oh wait, I have been. Pretty much for the last 2 years straight. We can't wait to finally have a baby in our home! Laura is getting so big now and I want so badly to have some little, chubby, baby cheeks to kiss again. 10 more weeks!Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13681240763990669746noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977734823063868493.post-52616856614270396572012-04-11T07:00:00.007-07:002012-04-15T01:59:17.898-07:00What we've been up to...We are down to our last month at Nashville and I am feeling both sad about leaving and anxious to get settled in our new city. We are hoping that Atlanta is just like Nashville since we have loved it so much here.

We are also getting excited about our baby due in August. Our ultrasound a couple of weeks ago showed a healthy baby girl. I think Peter was kind of hoping for a son, but I am thrilled about another girl.

We met with friends at a park and had a bbq for Easter. Everyone brought eggs to hide and the kids had so much fun finding them. Laura found a plastic bug in one of her eggs and thought it was the best day ever. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ELnsJOxipGk/T4qLpkT_PwI/AAAAAAAABSg/uOwukhQ-a-w/s400/easter2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5731547022020787970" />

Laura hated her Easter dress, because she hates clothes in general. She would have been a lot happier if I had let her wear just her panties to church. Someday she will maybe appreciate how much time I spend sewing her wardrobe.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nQ230VmQHBo/T4qK5FhTanI/AAAAAAAABSU/AfVvtgE26cE/s400/eastr6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5731546189121415794" />

We are so happy that Laura's friend, Gianna, and her family are moving to Atlanta next month, too! Laura always tells me that Gianna is her "best friend." (That is when they are not fighting over toys, which is pretty much all the time.) <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PgbumzpNdK4/T4qNSYe_wMI/AAAAAAAABTE/rMMXkrpPIIQ/s400/easter4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5731548822731997378" />

In keeping with the Munk family tradition, I attempted my first bunny cake this year. Until I put the ears on it looked much more like a car than a bunny. Laura loved it and kept stuffing the candy carrots (made out of airheads) into the bunny's mouth. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dmbDcffacvA/T4qNI2UYtXI/AAAAAAAABS4/Nb5dFiPwU30/s400/easter3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5731548658941867378" />

Now that Easter is over, Laura is constantly reminding us that the next holiday is her birthday. She has lots of high hopes for a party, a cake, her friends coming, etc. Good thing that 2 year olds are so easy to please. It doesn't take much for her to be super happy. Like finding a plastic bag in her easter egg.Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13681240763990669746noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977734823063868493.post-10622466138798512412012-01-01T15:23:00.000-08:002012-01-01T16:15:30.232-08:00Christmas Pictures<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bDMpDTDfFsg/TwDu0O_16lI/AAAAAAAABQE/kUcMe6hNJS4/s400/grandma%2527s%2Bcamera%2B456.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692812510142786130" />
We had a cold, but not white, Utah christmas with Grandpa and Grandma Munk. I was excited when I found out that Christmas was on Sunday- perfect opportunity to make a special dress. She got this:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z0ydFgO_5bE/TwDuzmeL3qI/AAAAAAAABP4/QxzwnTSSJpo/s400/grandma%2527s%2Bcamera%2B484.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692812499264200354" />
The dress is sleeveless so I made this little ruffle jacket to keep her warm. Grandma Munk let her wear her pearls. All she needed was some little white gloves! (I don't know how to make those or you can bet she would have had some.)

In keeping with the tradition I started last year, I made us matching Christmas jammies. Laura's were especially cute with pink polka dot trim and matching bunny slippers. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jdrS885EE7E/TwDyw8xVVuI/AAAAAAAABQQ/mlRF6A17dO8/s400/grandma%2527s%2Bcamera%2B430.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692816851756996322" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WKqk3KP1pcY/TwD2-oI0I1I/AAAAAAAABRM/FA5xSKCO28s/s400/grandma%2527s%2Bcamera%2B427.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692821484783018834" />

Laura got a playhouse for Christmas. Starting tomorrow, there will be no more sugar in this house! Laura woke up this morning and the first words out of her mouth were, "Please, can I have a candy?" Halloween is so much fun, but I'm glad that it is now over. So we can move on to healthier holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. :)<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ik36V_OPrRQ/Tq9R2UmfZZI/AAAAAAAABNA/L_VYzWxjAUI/s400/more%2Bhalloween%2B008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5669840449567679890" />
We had a fun Halloween weekend and enjoyed every unhealthy minute. On Saturday we went to a pumpkin patch and let Laura run around and hug the pumpkins. Or kick them. Or hit them with a stick. Mostly there was a lot of hitting. This is Laura's new favorite game: hitting things. Is this normal behavior for a sweet little girl?
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BFj2ava2VgY/Tq9R2AkY6NI/AAAAAAAABM0/inVisHKxQGw/s400/more%2Bhalloween%2B011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5669840444190157010" />
Saturday evening we went to our ward Trunk or treat. Laura ate way too much candy, got her face painted and wore out her mother who chased her around all evening!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 331px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7B5cX3OPfIE/Tq9R12iJWVI/AAAAAAAABMs/umzqyJf_Jhg/s400/halloween2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5669840441496394066" />

Tonight we met up with some friends who have a daughter Laura's age to go trick or treating. We have been enjoying temperatures in the 70's and sunny days. And the colorful leaves are just gorgeous with all the trees here. I think we got a pretty good scenario worked out: cool, moderate summer in New Hampshire and home in time for the beautiful warm fall of Nashville. Too bad we can't own homes in two different places because I kind of liked how that worked out.

Laura is still as fun and crazy as ever.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-onus1AvJX4g/TqGO-GVv8RI/AAAAAAAABGA/zjbgkVyqHUI/s400/new%2Bcoat%2B019.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665967003713663250" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SD17k04NO9g/TqGQpahFIII/AAAAAAAABGw/U_wFyUAs71Y/s400/new%2Bcoat%2B002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665968847375900802" />
And we still think she is the smartest, cutest baby in the world. We still call her a baby, even though she is obviously not one. Until we get another baby in this house, Laura is our baby. She is okay with this arrangement because she recognizes she gets perks that other children her age do not. Like when Peter brought her into bed with us at 2:00 am a couple of nights ago. And like when she wakes up in the middle of the night and insists Mama sings her a song before she can go back to sleep. Is it normal for a 2 1/2 year old to not sleep through the night? She wakes up at least every other night needing a song or to be tucked back in. Sometimes he just screams, "I need something!" because she can't think of anything in particular. I know it is our fault- if we stopped going in she would stop waking up. But, like I said, she is our baby so we spoil her a little bit. Lately she has been sleeping in a tent next to her bed. We set it up for her to play in one day and she has been sleeping in it ever since.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TrWlK9mT04M/TqGO_SctbpI/AAAAAAAABGY/pQUb6LvK5DY/s400/new%2Bcoat%2B028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665967024143953554" />

She even takes her naps in there. She used to take them in my bed. But when I moved all the craft stuff downstairs this arrangement had to be changed. Shortly after moving my craft desk into my room, I came in to get Laura after nap time and found this:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6mtlmFIjHFA/TqGP6jcIYjI/AAAAAAAABGk/CkVprVxVFd4/s400/new%2Bcoat%2B010.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665968042317210162" />
Apparently she was having the time of her life with my markers before falling asleep.

And now she has one more bed in the house to take her naps in:
:<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xzH3Rjcv8Y8/TqGQq7_6DOI/AAAAAAAABHI/MMAvqgqrmOs/s400/new%2Bcoat%2B048.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665968873543437538" />
Shortly after we found out that Angelica wouldn't live long after birth, we decided to sign up to do foster care. It is something that I've always wanted to do, but I thought it would be later in life when we were done having children of our own. However, after finding out that it would just be me and Laura at home for another year, we decided it was perfect timing. My days with Laura are so much fun, but honestly, my life is probably a little too easy. It wouldn't hurt to have one more crazy to chase after in this house. And I figure until we can get another baby of our own, I will love other people's babies who need some extra love. I feel like it is a great way to let Angelica's short life bless another child's life since it is because of her that we decided to do this now.

All that being said, I don't know when or if we will even get the chance to have a foster child. We finished our last appointment yesterday and so once our caseworker finishes up the paperwork we will officially be in the program. But we have a specific age range we are looking for so it may be a while, or never, before they have a child in that range that needs a temporary home. And we are down to only 8-9 months left in Nashville.

But I had so much fun getting the child's room ready in case we receive one. I didn't want to spend money on a room that I wasn't sure would even be used, so I had to get creative in trying to make it cute with only buying a few things.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P7J9uzhR6OU/TqGQpgCZLHI/AAAAAAAABHA/31O-qobW5lI/s400/new%2Bcoat%2B046.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665968848857803890" />

We found the bed and mattress on Craigslist for $20 and I bought a cheap duvet comforter from Target. The rest was made with stuff I have stockpiled in my craft supply. For the duvet cover I used a yellow sheet and white sheet from a yard sale that I cut in strips and sewed together. I love how it turned out. It had to be something that could be used by a boy or girl and I think it turned out pretty gender neutral yet fun and cute.
So now we wait and see if we ever receive a phone call asking us to take a child. And in the meantime, I am enjoying having a bed next to Peter's study desk. I go up every night and read a book and fall asleep on the bed while Peter studies. It's like spending time together without talking. I've pretty much given up on keeping her fully dressed through out the day- these days I feel like a sucessful mother if she is wearing panties. This is a definite result of potty training. She is constantly stripping down to use the toilet and it is so much work to get all the layers back on. And, since Peter keeps our thermostat set at 87 degrees (I am dead serious)I am secretly jealous when she gets to run around naked. Last week her friend came over to play and I fed them a picnic lunch on the patio. Laura, as usual, was wearing only her panties.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XaXfjHrkQt0/Tnau-XJDQHI/AAAAAAAABEo/i3Z_2LekhNw/s400/002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653898768597336178" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yujT7-NucNs/Tnau-CoQVgI/AAAAAAAABEg/JZzTj0Ibh6g/s400/003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653898763091072514" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G0wu3C81Hy0/Tnau-HqnIHI/AAAAAAAABEY/V4TpVi3YytM/s400/004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653898764443132018" />Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13681240763990669746noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977734823063868493.post-82901857982290361522011-08-16T13:47:00.001-07:002011-08-16T14:27:43.476-07:00Our New England SummerWe just got back from a very fun summer spent in New Hampshire. Although I wasn't sure what to expect having never been to this part of the country, I fell in love with the Northeast. I loved the cool summers, the ocean, the rivers and bays, the trees, the beautiful houses, lobster, everything! Here are some pictures of the fun we had:

Eating Lobster
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OXh6W6bpgI8/TkrYxiHmB8I/AAAAAAAAA_w/3U_23U0upno/s400/August%2B15%2B001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641559828718815170" />
I figured that we couldn't truly experience New Hampshire with out eating lobster. So, one day after spending a few hours at the beach, we walked across the street to a little seafood restaurant and ordered it. I admit I was a little intimidated by it when they brought it out to me, but it was actually quite tasty. Laura was more interested in eating the sugar packets on the table.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OaCsHcTK6iA/TkrYxR7dWWI/AAAAAAAAA_o/0mlgghM83aM/s400/August%2B15%2B011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641559824372947298" />
Our last night in New Hampshire, my sister prepared a lobster feast for us. Each person got their own lobster. What a fun way to spend our last night in New England!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0MdHkNzckcE/TkrYwrdfNaI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/Iu_FjmstttE/s400/August%2B15%2B114.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641559814046692770" />

The Beach:
I can't believe how much fun it is to live close to the ocean. Laura loved the beach. She spent hours digging around in the sand. This is Grandpa Fielding and Laura at the beach.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X_fM9vENpcQ/TkrYxHZtNwI/AAAAAAAAA_g/Le3qMoV9lSQ/s400/August%2B15%2B042.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641559821547026178" />
Eating Cannolis from the North End in Boston: Wow. Are you kidding me? These are the most delicious things ever. I only had them twice but I can't stop thinking about them. I would move back to the Northeast just for these.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fPSFd2OOKTM/TkrYw8Iw0pI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/j6FEQ4Nst5s/s400/August%2B15%2B045.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641559818523169426" />
Fourth of July: We had a bbq at the Casper house. It was a perfect fourth of July with great food and great company.

Meeting Mitt Romney: We tagged along with Kashann to see Mitt Romney announce his candidacy for president. I wish I could have heard more of the speech, but I was busy making sure that I didn't lose Laura in the crowd of people since she insisted on walking everywhere and refused to be carried.

We were finally meeting our special little girl after 9 long months awaiting her arrival. The past four weeks have been the hardest, saddest weeks of my life as well as the happiest and most wonderful. I miss Angelica so much, but I know that she will be part of our family again someday and I am grateful for the five days we got to spend with her in this life.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NEN-Qsei61s/TeZshm0QHhI/AAAAAAAAA9E/jRGAtgtnFt8/s400/_MG_7330.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613293310175092242" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4qe01DtTaBs/TeZshaYD68I/AAAAAAAAA88/8CmySBR6miI/s400/_MG_7336.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613293306835626946" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 329px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cHxSLq00vDA/TeZshL6TwCI/AAAAAAAAA80/WDq92WmuTXM/s400/_MG_7345.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613293302952738850" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xYH3p4YoAMM/TeZsgpaW6nI/AAAAAAAAA8s/YVb6hhyNuFY/s400/_MG_7376.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613293293691923058" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 277px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pXr7dFLr_Qg/TeZu_2se8PI/AAAAAAAAA9U/bGnfht7ZqSo/s400/_MG_7356.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613296028856807666" />

Maybe the most important lesson I learned from this experience is that Heavenly Father is watching over us and listening to our prayers. This has been very clear since the first ultrasound when we found out that our daughter had severe abnormalities. Although we didn't have any answers at that point, we knew that the baby we were expecting was going to be a very special baby. We were obviously confused, sad and worried. But as I said my prayers that night, I felt peace and knew that Heavenly Father was watching over us and everything would work out for our good.

And it has. Heavenly Father has been there for us, answering our prayers and strengthening us when we needed it. I prayed so hard that Angelica would survive the birth and that we would be able to meet our little girl, if for only a few minutes. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father not only answered our prayers, but gave us five days of precious time with our daughter. He didn’t cure our baby; that was not part of his plan for our family. But he strengthened us and brought us peace. Our experience reminds me of a scripture in the Book of Mormon: “And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.”

It would have been a lot easier if the Lord had simply healed our baby. But if Heavenly Father always answered our prayers in the easiest way, we wouldn’t learn all the lessons that we were sent to Earth to learn. He didn’t heal Angelica, but he strengthened us so that we could bear the burden. And although we were not always cheerful and patient, I was amazed at how much joy and happiness we felt during this experience.

I am grateful for our belief in a God that can turn a tragedy into a tender learning experience. And I am grateful for the knowledge that this good-bye is only temporary and we will have our daughter again with us someday.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 311px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-odjGhsM5kKg/TeZvAWFnHaI/AAAAAAAAA9c/8rNLICmD3OU/s400/_MG_7350.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613296037283700130" />Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13681240763990669746noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977734823063868493.post-5087303468681982602011-05-09T03:16:00.000-07:002011-05-09T06:05:53.349-07:00Angelica Fielding Munk 05/04/11 - 05/09/11<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8uXgwjGgCV0/Tcfj2kzjxNI/AAAAAAAAA7s/z2RT9_tphCg/s400/angelica%2527s%2Bbirth%2B027.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604698788018242770" />
After five special days, our sweet baby Angelica has passed on. Among the multitude of tender mercies that we have experienced in the past few days was that the funeral director lived very close to our home, and had taken the infant carrier and our information home with him just yesterday. After the many blessings we have received in the past five days, I can't say that we were surprised that Heavenly Father was watching over this small detail as He has everything else.

Candice and I are happy. We feel that Angelica passed in the best possible circumstances. Heavenly Father blessed her in life and in death. We both agree that the past five days spent with Angelica were among the sweetest of our lives, and we look forward to seeing her again someday.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-odwbv-8X4gg/TcfkOt_2HsI/AAAAAAAAA78/GsSDi-1x6YE/s400/angelica%2527s%2Bbirth%2B018.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604699202802556610" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Gd4xMd77wyU/TcfkOTTYIuI/AAAAAAAAA70/fAyxlXJJrRU/s400/angelica%2527s%2Bbirth%2B043.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604699195636720354" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y13J7YPjDGo/Tcflmg7RcDI/AAAAAAAAA8M/sQUrjE0g0Mo/s400/angelica%2527s%2Bbirth%2B036.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604700711122202674" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6a0JG-MMFf8/TcflmUCao_I/AAAAAAAAA8E/tfbner-jF4M/s400/angelica%2527s%2Bbirth%2B003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604700707662504946" />Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13681240763990669746noreply@blogger.com28tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977734823063868493.post-49479444761035699462011-05-08T15:48:00.000-07:002011-05-08T16:25:04.134-07:00The Best Mother's Day EverAngelica has been alive 106 hours! We are going on our fifth day and we can't believe it. Going into this, we were really hoping for just a few minutes with her and we feel so blessed to have the time that we have had. This is truly the best Mother's Day present ever.
Here are my 2 little girls wearing their matching dresses I made for them:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 286px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NHlLx9dh92g/TccedVfUnEI/AAAAAAAAA7k/ulr1cTkyUvo/s400/mothersday%2B004a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604481750619429954" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 286px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LOsiaaL7-xE/Tccecn-DrbI/AAAAAAAAA7M/UxbyZ-SA8XU/s400/mothersday%2B014a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604481738400312754" />
Peter has been such a good husband and makes sure that I get time for a nap every day. I love snuggling up to my baby and taking a nap together. Peter took this picture yesterday while we were sleeping.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VPi3WpaQVmc/Tccecq-6HcI/AAAAAAAAA7E/qUohaPWi3Tc/s400/nap2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604481739209186754" />Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13681240763990669746noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977734823063868493.post-68510688050450761512011-05-07T14:24:00.000-07:002011-05-07T14:28:43.809-07:00Update on AngelicaAngelica is now 80 hours old and still going strong. We have had a few close calls where she has stopped breathing for a few moments, but she was able to revive herself each time. We appreciate the chance to get to know our little girl.Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13681240763990669746noreply@blogger.com4
